Lady Rams End 2025-26 Season; Gear Up for Upcoming Playoff Season

The 2024-25 season for the Lady Rams has finished their season, following their playoff game on Mar. 3. The Rams’ standing closes at 1-26 from their game log, while their Conference standing finished at 0-9.

Head coach Zaporia Smith prepared the Lady Rams to face off against the Lady Panthers of Olive-Harvey as an away. The game ended 88-37 in the Lady Panthers’ favor.

The third rematch against Olive-Harvey was a loss, but the Lady Rams scored more in this game and the Lady Panthers scored less compared to their previous games.

The Rams have gone up against the Panthers twice before. First on Feb. 4, that ended 106-27, then on Feb. 11, that ended 99-29; Olive-Harvey won both games.

Feb. 25 was the final home game of the Rams’ season as they rematched Daley College. This game was a loss for the Rams 83-63, but the night was a celebration despite the result.

The Lady Rams shined the spotlight onto their sophomores during their halftime. Sophomores Jasemin Wilson, Anyiah Jackson-Williams, Jennifer Martinez, and Essence Funches were recognized by their coaches and teammates.

During this game, the Lady Rams came together offensively as forward Wilson finished with 22 points, shooting guard Angelisse Anzueta followed with 17, center Lydianis Boutureira with 8, and guard Jackson-Williams with 7.

Two away games followed after Sophomore Night on Feb. 26, the Lady Rams lost to Highland Community College 78-48. Jackson-Williams was also able to lead in points in the game against Highland Community College.

11 of Jackson-Williams’ points out of the 18 were shot from the free throw line. 7 free throw percentage where Jackson-Williams had the highest free throw numbers, scoring 11 out of 15 attempts, adding to her team’s percentage.

The last game prior to playoffs was away at Triton College where the Lady Rams lost 100-28. Wilson and Anzeuta stood out in this game with Wilson’s 16-point lead followed by Anzueta’s 10.

The Olive-Harvey Lady Panthers led this season with their record 30-1. Kennedy-King and Malcolm X followed closely with 11 wins. Daley and Truman College were both tied in the Conference standings of 3-6.

For end of season stats, Wilson led with 235 points. Anzueta followed with 170 and Stanton totaled 135, all spanned over 27 games. Boutureira led with 142 rebounds, 59 offensive and 83 defensive over 25 games. Wilson and Anzueta followed in rebounds with 128 and 121.

On a departing note, co-captain Anzueta said, “We ended out good, last game we did lose but it was a good game. I’m looking forward to next season to grow more as a team and win more games!”
