The closing of the 2025-2026 NBA season stirred up thoughts in Wright's community.
with the significance of the unexpected championship from the Knicks leading to surprised reactions from those at Wright.
The New York Knicks have had a tough history. After their first victory in 1970, they had to go through defeat after defeat for 53 years. This has lead them to being mocked by films like "Madagascar", and "Soul".
First year Wright College student, Dakota Villanueva had this to say on the NBA Finale “I enjoy watching the underdogs in any sport, and as a fan of basketball its great to witness a generational win take place”
The event of the Knicks victory has led to optimism from fans of the Chicago Bulls, which since the late 1990s have yet to see another Championship from the Chicago Bulls.
Fans of the Chicago Bulls have commented on this, with hopes of a possible comeback for the Bulls reignited. Beiker Wilson, a first year student at Wright had this to comment, “Seeing the Knicks was a surprise, now I hope that the Bulls can do the same”
“I was always a big fan, even if lately they haven’t been the greatest.” Wilson further stated, “My family would always have a get together whenever the Bulls would play, and it brings good memories.”
Aluieris Rios, another first year student said, “Knowing how long the Knicks have always been clowned on, and seeing them have an unexpected comeback shows that anything can happen. I now hope that the Bulls can bring back the legacy they once had in the 1980s”
Rios also said, “I always supported the Chicago Bulls cuz Micheal Jordan played for them, and he inspired me into getting into basketball.”
