The Chicago Bears are one of the pinnacles of Chicago sports. The last time the Bears won a Super Bowl was back in 1985 with one of the greatest defenses of all time and the last time the Bears made a super bowl was in 2006 when they lost to the Indianapolis Colts. The last time the Bears went to the playoffs was in 2020 only with an 8-8 record. How do Wilbur Wright students feel about the 2025 season, where the Bears have started the season 2-2 in last place in the NFC North?
Many students feel optimistic about the season. Brandon Ramirez-Ramos a second year mechanical engineering major, said, “I’m feeling hopeful every year, I feel hopeful. I think this year we’ll get further. I think the pieces we have will fall into place and I’m hoping for a good season.” Other students who aren’t so optimistic, like Marbin Palacios, a first year criminal justice major, said, “Just another Bears season, get our hopes up, but puts us back down.”
”Many students look to the additions the Bears have made the past two seasons like second year Quarterback Caleb Williams and second year Wide Receiver Rome Odunze as well as adding the new Head Coach Ben Johnson.
The Bears didn't just draft new stars but also added veterans like superstar wide receiver D.J. Moore in 2023 and pro bowler Montez Sweat. Zachary Jacobs, a first year business major, said, “I feel decent about the Bears season so far. They have upgraded positions that they need and should be better than they were last year.” Yet Jacobs said, “they will probably still find a way to lose though.”
The next Bears game is on Monday Night Football against the Washington Commanders with kickoff at 7:15 p.m. The Bears are coming off a bye week and coming off a Sept. 28 win against the Las Vegas Raiders.
