Students Share “Worry” and “Disappointment” Regarding 2024 Election Day

Wright Times News interviewed Wilbur Wright students to find their thoughts before and after the 2024 November Presidential Election. The feeling throughout the campus seemed similar, expressing concern and frustration.

First-year accounting major Gibran Buschnyj, who was a first-time voter, said he felt “a little worried. [The] intensity between these two candidates [could lead to] people who might try to disrupt the voter process.”

After the election outcome, Buschnyj’s follow-up email about how he felt stated, “I felt disappointed, now knowing the results. I feel this will be a turbulent time for the United States going forward, seeing that power was consolidated in the Senate as well. I feel this will have ramifications both at home and abroad.”

Second-year nursing major Nat Hoang, who had voted in person previously, told us he felt “a bit nervous” about Election Day. Although Hoang said Nov 5 was “just another day” for him, he acknowledged “sometimes it’s not the result you expect” when it comes to the results of the race.

Wright’s students shared worry and concern and agreed talking to someone can be very useful. Wilbur Wright’s Wellness Center (Room S-106) welcomes students to “prioritizing mental and emotional well-being”.

The community can feel overwhelmed with mixed emotions during times like these, but Wilbur Wright is committed to “fostering an environment where all members feel supported, heard, and valued.”
