Earlier this semester, one of Wright’s physics professors, Sabyasachi Rath, died due to medical reasons. This was only Rath’s second semester teaching at Wright but his endearing personality will have a lasting impact on students and faculty. Professor Soma Dey, a colleague and friend of Professor Rath, shared insight into the kind of person Rath was.
Rath earned his master's in physics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He had an extensive history in physics education before his time at Wright. Professor Dey described him as a “softspoken” and “humble” man. “He would always say ‘hello’ and ‘good morning,’” Dey said. Dey said he wasn’t a man of hate or arrogance, but rather a man of peace and understanding. Professor Rath strived to teach, doing everything in his power to help his students succeed in a complex subject like physics.
