As Rams fans endured a winless season in both men and women’s basketball there is still hope that this Thursday both teams can secure a win for their last game of the season.
For the men’s team the season started with a change in coaching staff with the hiring of head coach Ramim Bhuiya, who Wright hired in September from Chicago State University, a Division I university.
The men’s team averaged 62.7 PPG. The leader in points was Knyle Lundy with 479 who also played the most minutes with 91 minutes. On Feb. 9 Lundy was named CCC District Player of the Week.
The women’s team, led by Coach Zaporia Smith, averaged 36 PPG. The Lady Rams were ranked top 10 overall in offensive efficiency. Lydianis Boutureira led the team in points with 198 and also had most minutes played with 90.
As of press time both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are 0-26, which is last place among City Colleges teams. The closest chance to a win for the Lady Rams was in a 43-51 loss against Morton College on Nov. 25 while the closest the men’s team got to a win was a 75-80 loss against Kennedy King on Feb. 5.
For men’s the last game of the season is Thursday at 7 p.m. in Wright’s gymnasium.
For women’s basketball the last game is also at home Thursday at 5 p.m. Both games are against Triton College and are part of Wright’s Pack the Gym Event to celebrate the last game of the season.
