Have an Adventure This Summer

Hi, I’m Kyle Chmielowski, I’m a first-year student majoring in Journalism, and throughout this article, I will share important strategies for life.

Congratulations, you survived finals. Now what? Whether you’re graduating and opening up the next chapter or you’re coming back to Wright, I encourage you to be motivated because you have no idea what the future holds.


Life is mostly unpredictable and uncontrollable, and for a lot of us, that could cause anxiety. Yet I say the mystery makes each day an adventure. You never know if tomorrow will be the day you fall in love, discover a new interest, or learn something about yourself.  


When I came to Wright College, I could never have imagined what my experiences would be. Sure, there was burnout and impostor syndrome and the difficulties of adapting to college, but there were also a bunch of pleasant surprises along the way.


Think of your greatest memories and smile. None of those memories you had to predict, and you still got to experience smiles and laughs despite the obstacles you carried with you.


Even though we all have to endure difficult things at inconvenient times that we can’t just wish away, there is also hope that good things will happen despite the uncertainty of the future.


I hope you can embrace summer with the mindset of having an adventure, no matter the challenges along the way. I hope you can pursue your summer plans with an adventurous attitude.


Maybe you’ll still be taking classes, spending more time at your job, travelling with family, or just enjoying the long-overdue warm Chicago weather.  Whatever your plans, see everything as an adventure, for in the midst of a hectic school year it’s hard to realize the many opportunities in your daily routine to soak in the moment a little more.


Though this summer may be uncertain, embrace it with a smile. What’s your next adventure? It’s time to find out.

Alexis is a Mexican-American artist that is in her second year of College and is encouraged to learn and get out of her comfort zone. 

 

Before she started college, she knew she was interested in Psychology and, when the time came, she made sure to make that her major. Once she is done with Community College, she will transfer to a 4-year-university to Social Work. Personal hobbies are writing, drawing, photography, and reading. Outside of those topics, she is fascinated by animals, philosophy, biology, and science. She hopes to travel in the future to Mexico and Iceland.

Daria is a second year at Wright College. They are Polish. Majoring in Psychology, most likely transferring over to Dominican University or UIC and planning to be a psychiatrist. Daria enjoys playing video games, creating art, hanging out with friends, and trying out new foods. They wish to travel the world some day.

Santiago is a first year student whose major is mixed media and arts. Santiago joined the newspaper because he wants to become a sports broadcaster and he sees that one way to help him achieve his goal is being a part of the news here as he wants to share the news. Some of Santiago’s hobbies are hanging out with friends and playing sports or watching sports and playing video games with friends.

with an undecided major but is interested in Psychology. She likes staying home but also likes hanging out with friends. Her favorite holiday is Halloween and loves watching horror movies. Meredith dreams of traveling the world, trying all types of diverse cultures.
