Fashion Club Keeps it Stylish

“It may not be fashionable to anybody else, but who cares? It matters to you and you think it's fashion. So I want people to be able to explore who they are through their fashion and how they are different,” said Starsheena Anderson, the executive office manager in President Oroz’s office, who is the advisor and founder of Wright’s fashion club.

Anderson said the club currently has 10 members. Once the upcoming semester starts, she hopes to advertise the club a little more during the Wright Around the World events.

Anderson wanted to start the club to give students a space where they can express their style of fashion, or if they don’t quite know what their style is, it can be a space of exploration. Anderson said there isn’t any specific type of fashion that will be focused on and it does not matter whether someone is part of a certain religion or is plus size. The Fashion Club will be one that fits all for all that fashion entails.

Anderson added on by reading the purpose statement to show what she hopes to make out of this club. It can also be found in the WrightLife club page.

It reads, “The Wright College Fashion Club is a student-led community dedicated to exploring fashion in all its forms; from design and styling to culture, business, sustainability, and self-expression. Open to students of all majors and backgrounds, the club provides a collaborative space to learn, create, and experiment through activities such as fashion shows, creative projects, workshops, guest speaker events, and open discussions. Above all, the Fashion Club encourages members to define and pursue fashion on their own terms, fostering innovation, confidence, and connection while celebrating the diverse ways fashion shapes our world.”

Anderson is in charge of naming the club officers and for the fall semester the officers were Adrianna Sanchez as the president, the treasurer Yasmeen Espinosa, and the secretary Priscilla Santiago.

The Fashion Club will be meeting on Tuesdays at 2pm in S201. You can officially join on by going to your student portal, opening presence, and then searching for the Fashion Club under organizations.
