The Dreamer’s Club at Wilbur Wright College is welcoming students into its community by offering immigration support, resources and connection for the new school year.

The club is open to all students, regardless of their background. “The Dreamer’s Club exists to support Hispanic American students at the college who are facing challenges, like trying to adjust to campus life,” explained Lily Alcala, club president of the Dreamer’s Club.

The club helps students build a community while also helping them connect with resources like lawyers and counselors.

Club advisor, Jocelyn Martinez, emphasizes that anyone interested in getting involved and building a community is welcome, “You do not have to be in the immigration spectrum, you can literally just want to get involved and that’s okay too”.

If you are looking to attend any of the Dreamer’s Club events, they have three major events planned for the upcoming school year.

The club will host a “Know Your Rights” session in late October. In November, in collaboration with the Student Government Association, the clubs will have a “I Stand With Immigrants” day of action.

Finally, in April, the club will collaborate again with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers for “Blossoming Beyond Borders”.

The organization to some represents more than just events, resources and involvement. To many, the club is able to create a sense of belonging for students who are far from home. “Ultimately, we want the Dreamer’s Club to feel like a little piece of home for people here at Wilbur Wright College,” club president Alcala said.

The club has biweekly meetings on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 PM in S201. The Dreamer’s Club is now accepting new members for this upcoming academic school year. Scan the QR code below to visit their interest form.
