Reflecting on the season, Coach Ramim Bhuiya said, “I think we did a great job of kind of building our character.” Bhuiya praised the team for having 10 all-academic student athletes and the highest GPAs in the region.
“From a standpoint of culture I think we’ve done a really good job of prioritizing the understanding of the game, understanding it’s not just basketball, it's about life, it’s about developing character,” Bhuiya said.
“We’ve really set the foundation to move forward. A lot of our sophomores are going to have the opportunity to continue playing at four-year schools and that’s what we’re focusing on, the development and the exposure.”
Coach Bhuiya, who previously coached at Chicago State University, was at the helm for his first season and shared that the fight of the team made the Rams stand out.
“We dealt with some injuries early on, first couple practices that made us alter some things, we added some guys later in October. Our fight through this difficult process has been what’s the most impressive and you could see we don’t give up against anybody.”
Knyle Lundy led the team with 506 points On Feb. 9 Lundy was named CCC District Player of the Week and the men’s team averaged 62.1 points per game for the season.
For women’s basketball the team lost 23-88 against Triton on Feb. 26 and lost 28-74 at Truman College on Saturday, finishing with a record of 0-29.
